Certified Medical Assistant to Practical Nursing Bridge

About

The Certified Medical Assistant to Practical Nursing Bridge Program is a 16-month diploma program, which consists of a combination of classroom, laboratory and clinical experiences. These experiences expose the student to the wide variety of tasks and responsibilities required of today’s practical nurse. Students must be certified as a Medical Assistant from an accredited institution to enter the program. Students will be granted credit for 216 clock hours of the Practical Nursing Program upon acceptance into the program.

The Certified Medical Assistant to Practical Nursing Bridge Program is a part-time evening/weekend program that meets on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and every other Saturday from 7:00 a.m to 5:30 p.m. This program will be located at the Brownsville/Haywood Extension Campus.

To apply for the Certified Medical Assistant Practical Nursing program, applicants must meet all general admissions requirements, specific requirements (including but not limited to a regular high school diploma or equivalent, being at least 18 years of age, passing the HESI Entrance Exam, being a licensed Certified Medical Assistant from an accredited instiution), and any documents for points by the published deadline to be considered for the class. Acceptance is competitive and is based on a point system. Completion of admission requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
