Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Jackson Inks New Recruits

Jackson, TN – In conjunction with other leading schools from around the nation, Tennessee
College of Applied Technology – Jackson (TCAT Jackson) is holding National Career and
Technical Education Letter of Intent Signing Day beginning at 11:00 AM on February 18, 2016.
Selected new students for the 2016-2017 school year will take part in a signing ceremony,
similar to an athletic signing, at TCAT Jackson at 2468 Technology Center Drive, Jackson, TN.
At the event, students will also be encouraged to initiate enrollment for the fall trimester.
This national event sponsored by the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) mirrors
the NCAA’s National Signing Day for athletes who commit to play sports in college. It is
designed to honor students who are entering a technical field and to celebrate the dignity of
work.

Fifteen technical institutions around the country will be hosting signing day ceremonies tied
together by live, nationwide simulcasts. Seven of the Tennessee Colleges of Applied
Technology will be participating in National Signing Day this year and anticipate signing
approximately 300 students collectively. TCAT Jackson expects to sign 20 students at its
inaugural signing day event.

“By signing our incoming students to Letters of Intent, we’re telling them that we’ve reserved a
place for them and we want them. Technical education will prepare them for a strong career,”
said Dr. Jeff Sisk, TCAT Jackson Director. “TCAT Jackson is committed to attaining the goals of
Governor Haslam’s ‘Drive to 55’ initiative. We believe that the National Letter of Intent Signing
Day is a great next step towards accomplishing those goals”.

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Jackson is a member institution of the
Tennessee Board of Regents and enrolls 800+ students annually in 25 different technical skills
programs.
