Vice-President of Instruction and Institutional Effectiveness


The Tennessee College of Applied Technology has a position opening for a Vice-President of Instruction and Institutional Effectiveness at its main campus in Jackson Tennessee. This position will provide effective leadership and direction to all non-Allied Health faculty; ensure instructional program compliance with relevant TBR/THEC/COE/DOE and programmatic accreditation standards and policies; coordinate all reporting and planning activities of the college to ensure compliance with local/state/federal agency and accreditor requirements; serve as a member of the President's Cabinet; and assist the President on projects requiring leadership at the vice-presidential level. This position will report to the TCAT Jackson President.

Required Qualifications

Master's Degree in a related discipline from an accredited institution.

Work experience: five years of successful administrative or teaching experience in higher education.



Work directly with non-Allied Health faculty to ensure quality instructional programs; work with all faculty and staff to implement strategic goals and objectives for the campus; coordinate short and long-range planning efforts; work with program advisory committees; annually evaluate all non-Allied Health faculty and other direct reports; ensure compliance with required reports to local/state/federal agencies; and maintain standards appropriate for college and program accreditation.Manage the development and execution of special projects as assigned by the President; promote and practice collegial relationships; advise the President on potential innovative pathways to greater institutional efficiency and effectiveness; perform other job-related duties as assigned.



Knowledge: leadership principles, practices, and techniques; higher education practices, principles, and values; pedagogical principles and learning styles; values and philosophies of a comprehensive technical college.

Skills: developing and implementing academic programs; strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation; program review; applied computer technology; oral and written communication; organizing; problem-solving; budgeting; promoting a collegial work environment.

Abilities: interpret and apply federal, state, and local regulations,  policies, and procedures; maximize information/communication systems; apply current technologies to appropriate academic disciplines;  work in a collaborative environment; represent the college in the community; serve in an advocacy role within the parameters of the position; establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships  with diverse cultural and ethnic groups; plan, meet, and initiate change; represent the President as needed.
